A Farewell and an Apology

Due to a variety of professional obligations, I regret to say that I will no longer be blogging at Five Rupees. I have always tried (how successful I have been is open to debate) to blog to the best of my ability. I will no longer be able to devote the time to maintain an acceptable quantity and quality of blogging.

I have been very protective of my identity while blogging. Because of that, in the past, I have revealed parts of my life on this blog that are simply untrue. Given I am already an anonymous blogger, this was more than dishonest, it was needless. I apologize for this. Five Rupees values its honest and accountable relationship with its readers, and does not wish in any way to jeopardize the trust you have in us. For those words to have any weight this apology is necessary.

Lastly, I would like to thank Ahsan, AKS and NB for giving me an opportunity to blog here. I am even more thankful to the spirited, intelligent and engaged readers who have truly made blogging at Five Rupees such a pleasure

Let me be the first to thank Bubs for his blogging for over a year. It has really made a difference to the overall quality of the website and he will be missed.

Bubs, you have been a great addition to this blog. It's a shame you won't be on here anymore, and I for one will sorely miss your Lost discussion posts.

Guess this means you guys are back to 2 with NB's last post being almost 3 months ago

Thank you Bubs for being a great contributor and a pleasure to read. 5 Rs has really benefited from having you on board and your posts will be missed. We all wish you the very best going forward.

I'll miss the Minority Reports, especially the ones on Pakistani politics and cricket. Your last post on the Supreme Court's judicial activism vis a vis Musharraf was a great summary of the current situation. Thanks for the great content (although I've only been reading Five Rupees since February!).

(Wipes away tear) sniff sniff! Hate goodbyes.
Although I haven't been commenting much here, I have been reading the posts and will miss your witty commentary, plus second Kalsoom with regards to the Lost posts.
All the best with your professional endeavours.

You do not need to apologize, you blogged when you could and that counts, glad to have you posting here. Brig Imtiaz bashing was just awesome.

Will be looking forward to guest posts.

I knew it I knew it! Ahsan drove him away with that anti-journalist post. Ahsan you really are a monster

Hey Ahsan and NB,

I like how you're both trying to come off as fair, sensitive and professional considering your own petulant and extreme views on this subject. Classy.

Sorry to see you go Bubs. Will write a little more later but please keep us informed when and where you'll be blogging next. Why dont you start your own thing, that kind of decreases the chances of unforseen circumstances like, i dont know, say.. your co-authors trying to fuck you over.

Good luck.

Dear fiverupees bharwa authors.

I would like to at this time apply for a position as author on fiverupees. Here is a sample article on politics which you have my permission to post:

"Title: Hair today, gone tomorrow.

Body: That Nawaz Sharif is at it again. Inciting the Supreme Court and being a thorn in the side of Chor Zardari. Do the punjabis not know that he has an agenda all of his own? Rather than save the economy, he should really be trying to save his hair (lol, pardon me for breaking the third wall but I would like to point out that this sentence represents my zany humor which is typical of my prose).

So anyway, everything Nawaz is promising is "bald" faced lies."

Therefore as fiverupees authors can see, I am topical AND witty, a surefire prerequisite for any writer on this blog. Also, I am no big fan of Islam.

I hope to hear from you soon.

"Title: Hair today, gone tomorrow."

I realize this isn't a democracy, but for that title alone YYJ has my vote

rabz tabz....YYJ nicked this headline from one of the stories on 'Hair Gate' ala Darrel Hair...
